At VIIQ, we believe trust is earned through transparency.
Our mission is to make elections, government, public policy, and civic information in the U.S. Virgin Islands easier to understand — without sacrificing accuracy, fairness, or context. This page explains how we research, verify, organize, and maintain the information published across VIIQ.
Our Sources
Whenever possible, VIIQ relies on primary sources before secondary reporting. Our research may include:
When primary sources are unavailable or additional context is needed, we may reference reputable news organizations, academic research, or other credible publications. Whenever practical, we provide citations or links so readers can review the original source material themselves.
Our Editorial Process
Every article, candidate profile, policy summary, timeline, and visualization published by VIIQ is reviewed with four guiding principles:

Facts vs. Analysis
VIIQ clearly distinguishes between factual reporting and editorial analysis.
When opinion pieces, guest contributions, or sponsored content are published, they will be clearly identified.
Corrections Policy
Despite careful editorial review, mistakes can happen. When an error is identified, VIIQ will investigate it promptly and make corrections when appropriate. Corrections may include:
For significant factual corrections, we may include an editor’s note explaining what was changed and when.
We do not quietly alter substantive factual information without acknowledging the correction.

Editorial Independence
VIIQ is an independent, nonpartisan civic information platform. Our editorial decisions are not influenced by political parties, candidates, campaigns, advertisers, sponsors, or government agencies.
Our responsibility is to present public information accurately, fairly, and in a format that helps people better understand the issues affecting the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Continuous Improvement
As new public records become available, policies change, elections evolve, or better information emerges, VIIQ may update existing content to reflect the most current and accurate information available. This methodology will continue to evolve as VIIQ grows, new technologies are developed, and our editorial standards improve.
