Voices

VIIQ reports the facts without opinion. Voices is where the community brings them to life — independent perspectives, analysis, and arguments from Virgin Islanders, built on the data we publish but not written by us.

This is not VIIQ's opinion

Every piece in Voices is written by a contributor independent of VIIQ — not our staff, not affiliated with our organization, and not representing our position on anything. We don't endorse the views published here, and contributors don't speak for VIIQ any more than a letter to the editor speaks for a newspaper.

What we do guarantee: contributors must ground their arguments in real, sourced data — much of it pulled from VIIQ's own pages — rather than speculation or rumor. We fact-check the factual claims in every piece before publishing. The opinions, conclusions, and arguments themselves are entirely the contributor's own.

How Voices Works

01

Independent Contributors

Anyone in the Virgin Islands community can pitch a piece — residents, students, business owners, advocates, former officials. No affiliation with VIIQ required, and we deliberately keep it that way.

02

Grounded in Real Data

Pieces should engage with actual public record — election results, legislation, infrastructure reporting — not unfounded claims. We point contributors to VIIQ's own pages as a starting source.

03

Fact-Checked, Not Censored

We verify factual claims before publishing — dates, figures, quotes. We don't edit for viewpoint, and we publish perspectives we disagree with as readily as ones we don't.

04

Clearly Labeled

Every Voices piece carries the contributor's name, a short bio, and a visible disclaimer that it reflects their views alone — never VIIQ's.

Voices is just getting started. Want to be one of the first contributors? See the guidelines below and reach out — we'd love to hear from you.

Want to contribute?

We're looking for Virgin Islanders with something to say — about elections, policy, infrastructure, or what's happening in the territory. You don't need to be a writer by trade. You need a clear argument and a willingness to back it up with real information.

Pitch a piece

Editorial note: VIIQ reserves the right to decline pieces that contain unverifiable claims, personal attacks, or content that doesn't meet our basic factual standards. This is not the same as rejecting a viewpoint — we welcome disagreement, including with positions VIIQ itself might be perceived to hold through its data presentation. What we won't publish is misinformation.
