Adlah "Foncie" Donastorg is one of the most experienced politicians in the 2026 field. Born and raised in St. Thomas, he served seven terms in the Legislature of the Virgin Islands from 1995 to 2011 and has previously run for Governor in 2006 (Independent), 2010 (Democrat), and 2014 (Democrat). He is running in 2026 as an Independent alongside running mate Positive Nelson.

Positive Nelson is a former Commissioner of Agriculture of the U.S. Virgin Islands and a former seven-term senator in the Legislature of the Virgin Islands representing St. Croix. His name, he has noted, "is not just a name but an attitude towards life."

Each issue below maps to a category from VIIQ's 2026 Issues Guide. Positions are added only when we find a verified public statement — we do not guess, paraphrase, or infer. Where no sourced 2026 position exists, it is noted. Some entries below include prior public statements from Donastorg's 2018 gubernatorial campaign where they remain relevant — these are clearly dated and labeled.
